Fare Structure

NET Trans provides service within the rural areas of Carter, Hancock, Hawkins, Greene, Johnson, Sullivan, Unicoi, and Washington counties and the urbanized area which is outside of the city limits of Bristol, Johnson City, and Kingsport. We operate from 6:00 am - 6:00 pm Monday - Friday, with limited service available on Saturday. The zone-based fares will apply to all trips within our operating hours and service area. Per mile/hour, fares apply to trips that are outside of our normal operating hours or service area district.

All fares are based on one-way trips and shall be paid upon boarding the transit vehicle.  Fares may be paid by cash, check, or customer balance.  Please have the correct change if paying by cash as the drivers do not carry cash and cannot make change. 

If you wish to pay by balance, funds must already have been added prior to boarding the van.  Regarding adding funds to your balance

  • Funds may be added to your balance in any dollar amount and there is no minimum purchase required.
  • Balance funds never expire but are non-refundable and non-transferable.
  • You may add funds to your balance on Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm, excluding holidays
  • Payment may be made via PayPal, debit, or credit card.
  • Drivers are not able to take payments for balance transactions.
  • Please call (423) 461-8233 and speak with a Customer Service Representative for more information or to add funds to your balance and/or to schedule a trip.  You may also schedule a trip using our mobile app.  You may find the app on the Google Play Store or Apple App Store by searching “NET Trans.” 

 

General Public Group Trips

Group trips require a minimum of six clients and a maximum of nine. All clients must have the same origination and destination points and must be within our service district. No wait time allowed. A second van must meet the minimum number of clients after the first van has met the maximum number of clients. All trips must be within our normal operating hours.

0-20 miles (one way) – $2.00/person for each trip
20.1-50 miles (one way) – $4.00/person for each trip

Returned Payment Policy

For your convenience, we are happy to accept debit/credit cards and personal checks for the payment of fares.  However, if your payment is not honored by your bank, you will be obligated to pay the original fare plus an additional returned payment fee of $10.00 for each payment. NET Trans will require the fare amount(s) plus returned check fee(s) be paid with a debit/credit card with the Customer Service Representative before scheduling your next trip. After receipt of two (2) returned payments, fare payment for all future rides will only be accepted in the form of prepayment with a debit/credit card or cash payment to the driver.

Children Along for the Ride

Children may ride, providing the children’s transportation is in direct conjunction with the parent/guardian’s scheduled transportation service. If the primary service is for the children, then the regular fare must apply. All children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Personal Care Attendants

Clients with disabilities requiring assistance may have a care attendant ride at no charge. The escort must be picked up and dropped off at the same origination and destination points as the client.
